Projects

Our conceptual capacity to think at the large scale as well as at the nano-science scale creates innovation and stimulates the emergence of new approaches. We are thrilled to be able to collaborate with diverse organisations and individuals at the XXXL – scale and space explorations, XXL – regional scales of the
Middle East and Europe, XL – scale when
addressing urbanisation, cities, and peri-urbanity, L – scale through an award-winning architecture, M – scale and international exhibitions, S – a scale of a product design, for example, a collection of chairs and XS – scale of materials science.

Sustainable Lunar Habitation

Terrestrial and lunar deserts have much in common.
Their geological composition and extreme
temperatures, in addition to landscape formation,
offer an opportunity for fresh analysis. 3 ideas is
collaborating with the European Space Agency
(ESA) on the’ In-situ Resource Utilisation’ for lunar
explorations in the context of terrestrial ecosystems.
Dr Sandra Piesik joined the Horizon 2020 project
PRO-ACT focused on robotics for in-situ resources
utilisation (ISRU) as the End-User Board Member.

XXL
Regions

To address climate change transboundary effects
we need regional approaches, which share similar
ecological and often cultural characteristics.
Regional approaches also allow for the economy
of scale when it comes to innovation and a ‘system
change business’ cases. 3 ideas is specialising in
territorial integration and in particular urban and rural
areas and has collaborated with UNFCCC, UNCCD,
UN-HABITAT, and governments on holistic territorial
approaches. See more >

XL
Cities

68% of the world population is projected to live in
urban areas by 2050 (UN-DESA). This is bringing
an immense pressure on resources, food security,
social equity and at the same time new opportunity
to re-shape our cities whilst leaving no one behind.
According to the World Bank cities account for over
70% of global CO2 emissions, and it is a called for
raised ambition for climate action and nature – based
design approaches. See more >

Architecture

Architecture is a form of art embracing society,
place, and ecology uniquely and diversely. Climate
change and a sustainable development agenda are
offering a re-think on how we construct buildings,
that is a place – specific, use local materials,
and innovate on the sustainable transition, whilst
maintaining cultural continuity and identity. 3 ideas
has in its portfolio work on commercial buildings,
high-rise towers, airports, educational and leisure
architecture as well as award-winning innovating
buildings from bio-materials. See more >

Exhibitions

Exhibitions are an important part of engaging with
the general public in a debate about current affairs.
Individual or collaborative efforts are often aimed at
the exchange of knowledge and the advancement
of technology, presenting an opportunity to ask
questions in order to understand our world and
each other better. See more >

Product
design

Holistic approaches to spatial design are important
to maintain the visual integrity of any space.
Product design also allows for the testing of ideas
for regenerative design and the use of bio-circular
materials at the scale of furniture. It is also an
opportunity to stimulate Small Business Enterprises,
in a developmental context and North-South
collaboration (UN SDGS). See more >

Materials

The future of materials science is in hybrid
approaches. At the building component scale,
3 ideas pioneered the use of date palm bundling
technology for the structural use of date palm in
buildings. At the nano scale of composite materials
3 ideas has been working with a world–class
laboratories on the bio-materials innovations linked
to the bio-circular economy, regenerative design
and agricultural productivity.
