Architecture is a form of art embracing society,
place, and ecology uniquely and diversely. Climate
change and a sustainable development agenda are
offering a re-think on how we construct buildings,
that is a place – specific, use local materials,
and innovate on the sustainable transition, whilst
maintaining cultural continuity and identity. 3 ideas
has in its portfolio work on commercial buildings,
high-rise towers, airports, educational and leisure
architecture as well as award-winning innovating
buildings from bio-materials.

Dr Sandra Piesik practiced commercial architecture
in several countries: United Kingdom, United Arab
Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Australia and
the Netherlands. Trained and qualified as an
architect at the Architectural Association in
London, she combines versatility of British and
international approached to architectural practice.
Dr Piesik worked amongst others with:
Foster + Partners, AHMM, Aedas, and Dubai
World.

The Sabla

Endorsed by UNCCD, The Sabla: Palm-leaf
Shelter
is the first contemporary date palm building
in the Middle East located Al Ain Oasis in the UAE on
the UNESCO World Heritage site. The functionality
of the building finds its focus in its modularity and
prefabrication which both offer great flexibility
underpinning a six-year research project on a
bundling technique. Winner of the Community &
Cultural Project of the Year and the second in
Sustainable Project of the Year during the Middle
East Architect Awards 2015 in Dubai. Nominated for
the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Architect: 3

Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.
